This anecdote appears in Walter’s book The Psychiatrist, a collection of capsule biographies of great figures in neuroscience. Why does Walter put anecdotes about himself in a book ostensibly about other people? Because he’s a narcissist, and therefore literally incapable of not talking about himself. The Psychiatrist is unintentionally hilarious for this reason.
