I hope you find a happy rat as soothing as I do. Even the ones I see frolicking on the streets of New York make me feel good, though those are jittery, hardworking feral rats rather than the cheerful domestic type. At the same time, I know they shouldn’t be there, because they do carry disease and cause damage, particularly in poorer areas. I don’t blame them, of course, because they’re just trying to live; I blame the city, which isn’t getting rid of the trash fast enough. Big piles of trash on the streets = rats. But this little friend, being an art rat, carries no disease and leaves no droppings, nor will it gnaw your belongings.
