You guys seem to like me best when I’m waving my bitter unfunny little fists, as witness the fact that this comic and this comic are the two most popular on the site. So witness the first text-only installment of Small Peculiar. W. H. Auden’s September 1, 1939 is a wonderful poem, and I think even more relevant now than it was ten years ago, but Allen Ginsberg’s America seems to me more relevant still. Both poems employ the word obsess and it’s a word that has always loomed large in my vocabulary as well.
