Jonah 2 is where the story abruptly changes gears. Up until now it’s been an action movie.
This is the action-packed ending to the first chapter of the Book of Jonah, which has been action-packed throughout. That was only seventeen verses, but look at all that happened!

Plot twist! Jonah is capable of thinking of someone besides himself. Just barely, but still.
One of the things I love about the Book of Jonah is how funny it is. Is he seriously sleeping through the wrath of God?
The name Jonah means “dove” and his father’s name means “truth.” He has a cameo in 2 Kings before this, so presumably prophesy is not a new experience for him.
