It’s very considerate of Lovecraft to come preloaded, as it were, with all the standard jokes about what a racist he was. I don’t know that he was all that much more racist than the average white American of his time, but we all seem to have this tacit agreement to make the jokes whenever he comes up. And because he was quite racist, I don’t have a problem with that. Anyway, I’m reading some of his short stories at the moment, and I’m pleased to add him to my harem of neurotic boy authors along with Franz and Edgar. One of the things that pleases me is that he’s easy to draw, having the longest face of any human being I’ve ever seen. Seriously, go look at a picture of him if you don’t believe me. Dude looks like he ought to move in an L shape.

See you next Thursday!
