We both like beer, that’s something else we have in common. It just occurred to me last night that my favorite humorist, James Thurber, is pretty much what you’d get if Kafka were a gentile from the American Midwest instead of a Jew from Prague. At least I can read one of them in the original. And so can you! Read a brief piece he wrote for The New Yorker in 1931 and let me know what you think of my theory.
